Activity 9. FORUM ENTRY 1 Situational Leadership Theory- SLT
According to the SLT the staff will be divided in four groups regarding the level of maturity they have:
Imagine you work in a school with those four stages of followers. What
could you do with each of them?
According to the SLT the staff will be divided in four groups regarding the level of maturity they have:
1.
Able
and Willing: This group is ready to manage the situation because they have the
knowledge to do it and they also want to do it, the leader see this group as
very capable and confident so he/she will passes the process and responsibility
to this group of people. DELEGATING
2.
Able
and Unwilling: For this group that is well prepared to do the task but they are
not confident enough to take the responsibility, the leader will focus on
increase that confidence to achieve the task, for this group the plan is to let
them participate giving suggestions with the solution of the tasks always
paying special attention on the group confidence and social behaviour. PARTICIPATING.
3.
Unable and Willing: This group is not prepared to take the responsibility
on the task but they want to work on it, they are novice but enthusiastic, so
the leader is going to guide them through the task taking the decisions but
“using” the energy they have and their desire to work. SELLING.
4.
Unable
and Unwilling: This group in my opinion the more difficult group to work, the
only way that the leader could take is to TELL everything to them, the role of every
person of the group will be define by the leader and also every step to achieve
the goal.
